A well-renowned destination in the Bahamas, Grand Bahama Island, has always been one of the best places to visit for those looking to have a memorable vacation. This island is known for its incredibly clear and calm waters, powdery white shores, and unsullied flora and fauna. Vacationing here can be a very luxurious experience for any kind of tourist. However, to truly enjoy yourself, there are some things you might want to keep in mind while planning your perfect island getaway.

Traveling Around Freeport, Grand Bahama:

As a center of tourism, Freeport, Grand Bahama is usually the first destination for any vacationer as it offers a wide range of activities and all the amenities you could probably think of. As it is a place full of activity and commerce as well as being the capital of Grand Bahama Island, it is quite easy for travelers to get around. You can take a taxi cab or a jitney bus as both are widely available. You can also drive a car or ride a motor scooter. Should you wish to rent a car, you don’t need to get a Bahamanian license as what you currently have is good for 3 months’ use on the island. Just remember to drive on the left side of the road. For those riding a scooter, wearing a helmet is required.

Grand Bahama Island Weather:

One of the reasons why many travel to this destination is because of the Grand Bahama Island weather. Locals enjoy a warm, tropical climate all year round. The temperature is usually between 70oF to 800F so better dress appropriately. Bring lots of cool clothes to keep you from sweating too much while you have some fun in the sun. One other thing you should take note of is when the hurricane and rainy seasons occur. If you want perfect weather during your entire stay, it’s best not to visit the island anytime between May and October.

Grand Bahama Island Hotels:

There are quite a lot of Grand Bahama resorts to choose from. If you’re travelling with children, it’s best to choose a resort or hotel that has activities for kids as well as baby-sitting services for when you and your hubby/wife enjoy a night out on the town. Also, some resorts and hotels allow children under the age of 12 to stay for free so it always pays to check for these types of amenities.

Hotel check-ins and check-outs are generally the same. You can check into your room at 11am and checkout at 3pm. Should you happen to arrive before the check-in time, a lot of the hotels often offer to hold on to your luggage while you start exploring the island and wait for your room to be ready.

For those of us who can’t think of not staying connected to their loved ones at home, most hotels also offer high speed internet access and direct dialing services in their guest rooms. Of course, there may be fees aligned with using these amenities. Check with the hotel of your choice before you even think of using one.

Knowing these travel tips will certainly help smoothen any wrinkles in your plans and make sure you don’t have cause for frustration during your time there. Because your Grand Bahama Island vacation should be an experience you should never forget.
